SPRUCE SCHOOL OF REAL ESTATE®

Professional Services Education for West Virginia Real Estate

At Spruce School of Real Estate, Inc., Professional Services Tuition supports a clear purpose: preparing students with the knowledge, practical understanding, and professional judgment needed to pursue a West Virginia real estate career. Our educational services combine structured instruction, student guidance, course materials, and assessment, with a focus on the responsibilities that come with serving the public.

Our 90-hour West Virginia Pre-License Salesperson Course provides education for entry into a regulated profession. Spruce is approved by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission as Provider #32-SP, and our distance-education course holds separate ARELLO certification (Spruce’s credentials).

What Professional Services Tuition Covers

Professional Services Tuition is Spruce’s term for the one-time tuition paid for enrollment in our course and access to the course resources during the applicable enrollment period. It pays for an educational program, including instruction, learning materials, assessments, and student support, under the terms of the student’s enrollment agreement.

Professional Services Tuition is not a subscription, membership, or automatically renewing charge. The applicable enrollment agreement explains the tuition amount, included materials, enrollment period, completion requirements, and cancellation and refund terms.

Our focus is professional services education: helping students understand real estate principles, West Virginia law, ethical responsibilities, and the practical decisions they will face as future licensees.

Classroom and Online Home-Study Instruction

Spruce provides professional services education through both classroom instruction and online home-study instruction. The delivery format changes where and how students learn; it does not change our commitment to structured education and qualified instruction.

  • In-person classroom instruction: Spruce maintains a physical classroom at 5000 Greenbag Road, Suite D-18, Morgantown, WV 26501. Classroom sessions are organized according to enrollment and the announced class schedule; students should contact Spruce for upcoming session availability.
  • Online home-study instruction: Spruce also operates as a home-study school for students enrolled in our online course. Students complete structured distance education through SpruceOnline, with course materials, assessments, and instructor support.

Professional Services Tuition applies to the educational services described in the student’s enrollment agreement for the selected course format. Students should confirm the delivery format and any classroom schedule before enrolling.

Qualified Instructors Who Continue Their Own Education

Our distance-education instructors hold the Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI) designation through the International Distance Education Certification Center, or IDECC, an ARELLO-affiliated organization (Spruce’s credential information). Maintaining that designation requires continuing professional development through the CDEI renewal program, currently a six-hour renewal course every three years (IDECC’s CDEI program).

Spruce’s owner and lead instructor, Billy Zwiener, has held CDEI credential #67468 since 2009. His instructor certificate and competency badges are available on our About Us page, documenting training in learning-management systems, learning preferences, learner engagement, and professional networking (instructor credentials).

Our instructors also participate in annual Instructor Development Workshops offered by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission, consistent with the Commission’s instructor-renewal requirements. WVREC requires these workshops when offered, subject to its stated exceptions (WVREC instructor requirements).

Continuing education is part of how we maintain the quality of the professional services education we provide. We expect our instructors to keep learning, just as we prepare our students to do throughout their professional careers.

Course Approval and Distance-Education Certification

West Virginia Real Estate Commission: Spruce’s WVREC provider number is #32-SP. The Commission is the licensing authority for West Virginia real estate professionals and separately regulates real estate courses, providers, and instructors (Spruce’s credentials, WVREC education requirements).

ARELLO course certification: Spruce’s online 90-hour course holds ARELLO certification #6747. This certification concerns the distance-education course; it is separate from an instructor’s personal CDEI credential and does not grant a student a real estate license (Spruce’s course and instructor credentials).

Education Is a Step Toward Licensure, Not a License

Successful completion of Spruce’s 90-hour course fulfills the approved pre-license education component for the West Virginia salesperson licensing pathway. Course completion does not itself grant a real estate license or guarantee approval of a license application.

Applicants must separately meet the West Virginia Real Estate Commission’s current requirements, including application approval, the required background check, the licensing examination, and the requirements for license issuance and the license status requested. A sponsoring broker is required to practice as an active salesperson; students should confirm current requirements and deadlines directly with the Commission (West Virginia Real Estate Commission).

This disclosure addresses preparation for licensure in West Virginia. Spruce does not represent that this course satisfies another state’s licensing education requirements; anyone seeking licensure elsewhere should obtain guidance from that state’s licensing authority before enrolling for that purpose.

Permit to Operate

Permit to Operate Issued by the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education.

This permit is distinct from WVREC course approval and ARELLO distance-education certification. It does not constitute accreditation or approval of the school or course, and it must not be represented as a recommendation or endorsement by the Council (WVCTCS permit application, Series 35 advertising provisions).

Tuition Questions, Student Concerns, and Complaints

Students with questions about Professional Services Tuition, instruction, enrollment, or refunds are encouraged to contact Spruce so we can address their concerns promptly and fairly. Written concerns may be sent to [email protected], and the school can be reached at 1-800-864-7318.

Students may also contact the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education concerning matters within its jurisdiction through its Proprietary Schools office. Students must not be subjected to punitive action for filing a written complaint with the school or Council (Series 35 student complaint provisions).
